Orange Romania CEO Liudmila Climoc has revealed the company is conducting final testing of its own fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in several localities in the country and plans to connect the first customers by the end of the year, reports Ziarul Financiar. Orange Group revealed in July that it planned to begin building its own fibre-optic infrastructure in Romania as it is unhappy with the rising cost of accessing Telekom Romania’s fixed network. It has been reported that Orange is keen to acquire Telekom Romania in order to become a significant player in the fixed-mobile converged services market.
