Freedom expands Home Internet

8 Nov 2019

Freedom Mobile – the cellular subsidiary of cableco Shaw Communications – is expanding its Freedom Home Internet fixed broadband product launched on a pilot basis last month in Calgary into a full commercial service, covering communities where both Freedom and Shaw operate in Alberta and British Columbia. Available only to Freedom’s mobile subscribers, Freedom Home Internet offers residential download speeds of up to 150Mbps and unlimited data for CAD55 (USD41.7) a month with a free Wi-Fi Gateway modem.

To be eligible for Freedom Home Internet, Freedom Mobile users must subscribe to a post-paid mobile plan worth CAD40 or more (excluding promotions and discounts). Freedom Mobile expanded to 15 additional communities across British Columbia and Alberta in the summer of 2019 alone, while its subscribers also have access to more than 300,000 Freedom Wi-Fi hotspots across the two western Canadian provinces.
