Filipino operator Globe Telecom has expanded the reach of its 5G residential fixed-wireless broadband service to more areas of Luzon, the company confirmed in a statement. The ‘Globe At Home Air Fiber 5G’ services were initially made available for customers in Pasig City in Metro Manila, but have now been extended to select parts of Rizal, Cavite and Bulacan, said Martha Sazon, head of the firm’s broadband business, who confirmed that people living in Greenpark in Cainta, Rizal; Woodland Hills in Carmona, Cavite; and Carissa Homes 2A and 2B and Palmera Homes in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, can now access Globe’s 5G fixed-wireless offering. The service, first launched in June 2019, promises to deliver speeds of up to 100Mbps and currently covers communities with 120 to 250 homes in select areas in the Metropolitan and Greater Manila areas, with more to follow. Packages cost from PHP1,899 (USD36.6) for a 20Mbps connection up to PHP2,899 for a 100Mbps line; all plans are capped at 2TB.
