AIS signs 5G MoU with Nokia, Huawei, ZTE

30 Aug 2019

Advanced Info Service (AIS), Thailand’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, has announced that it is poised to commence ‘intensive 5G testing’ after signing memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a trio of international vendors, namely Nokia, ZTE and Huawei. The vendors will assist the cellco as it seeks to develop 5G user cases within the industrial sector.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, in November 2018 AIS staged its first 5G demonstration, using the 26GHz spectrum band. The trial was helmed by Nokia, and took place at Emporium, a luxury shopping mall in the Khlong Toei District.
