Telefonica Deutschland upgraded an additional 900 sites with LTE technology last month, as it accelerates its expansion of 4G services across the country this year. Work was carried out in both urban and rural areas across the country, including Hamm, Schleswig-Flensburg, Cologne, Cloppenburg, Ansbach, Kronach, Starnberg and Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis. The firm upgraded 6,700 sites with LTE in 2018 and plans to complete a further 10,000 by the end of this year. ‘We got off to a good start in 2019 with our ambitious network measures and really accelerated our network expansion, particularly over the past few weeks,’ commented Cayetano Carbajo Martin, Management Board member and CTO of Telefonica Deutschland, adding: ‘The new O2 network lays the ideal foundation for further network expansion in cities and in the country. We will further enhance the performance of our network and keep improving our customers’ network experience.’
