Euskaltel to merge Telecable, R to maximise synergies

15 Mar 2019

Spanish regional operator Euskaltel Group has divulged plans to merge its Telecable and R subsidiaries as part of an ongoing ‘transformation and simplification plan’. TeleGeography notes that the cableco currently serves the Basque Autonomous Community (via Euskaltel), Galicia (via R Cable) and Asturias (via Telecable). However, it appears that the merger will be network-orientated and synergy-driven and will not actually result in the disappearance of either brand. Technology partner ZTE has been hired to manage the network unification project.
