m:tel finalises Telrad Net acquisition

18 Feb 2019

Telekom Srbija-backed Telekom Srpske (m:tel) has completed its acquisition of a 100% stake in Bosnian multi-service operator (MSO) Telrad Net. m:tel said in a statement that the takeover the Bijeljina-based MSO is part of a strategic plan geared towards positioning the company as a regional leader in telecoms. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in May 2018 m:tel applied to the country’s Competition Council (CC, Konkurencijsko vijece) for permission to acquire Telrad Net. At the time the watchdog said that as the deal could have an impact on the retail markets for fixed and mobile telephony, internet, and for TV and radio services, it would seek feedback regarding the proposed acquisition and set a deadline of 21 May 2018 for submissions. In the wake of the consultation, the CC confirmed it had cleared the deal in a council session conducted on 2 August 2018.
