Hutch (Lanka) and BOI ink USD115m deal to strengthen 4G network

15 Feb 2019

Earlier this week (11 February) the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka signed a Supplementary Agreement worth USD115 million with mobile network operator (MNO) Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka (Hutch) to enable the latter to further strengthen its networks across the country. Hutchison Lanka recently merged with rival Etisalat Lanka and going forward, will operate under the brand name Hutch. The enlarged entity hopes that by integrating the two networks, ‘the combined business will provide Sri Lankan customers with a major boost in both rural and urban network coverage, and a renewed commitment in offering superior communication services to all customers.’ CEO Thirukumar Nadarasa noted that: ‘Hutch recently launched 4G services in the Western Province and nationwide rollout has also begun. The Hutch 4G network will unleash incredible benefits and capabilities for all customers.’
