Personal: LTE-A network now matches 4G footprint

18 Jan 2019

Argentina’s Telecom Personal has informed iProfesional that its LTE-A footprint now matches its standard 4G network and spans a total of 1,530 towns and cities. More than 390 new locations received coverage in 2018, the report notes, which has helped the cellco to increase its LTE user base to 11.9 million. At least 86% of the population can now receive LTE/LTE-A connectivity, and the 4G platforms accounted for 80% of Personal’s data traffic in 2018.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Personal activated its 1700MHz LTE network in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario in December 2014, and went on to launch LTE-A connectivity (using carrier aggregation [CA] in the 1700MHz and 700MHz bands) in the fourth quarter of 2016.
