Double Dutch: T-Mobile-Tele2 merger concludes

3 Jan 2019

Tele2 Group and Deutsche Telekom (DT) have completed the merger of their Dutch operations, more than a year after the deal was first announced. Following the completion of the transaction, Tele2 NL has been absorbed by T-Mobile Netherlands. Tele2 Group now owns 25% of the enlarged T-Mobile Netherlands entity and DT holds the corresponding 75% stake. Tele2 also received a cash payment of EUR190.0 million (USD216.7 million), subject to standard closing adjustments.

TeleGeography notes that the merger between Tele2 and T-Mobile was first announced on 15 December 2017, and has since gone through a rigorous regulatory process, including approval by the EC (without conditions).
