Zain Kuwait claims it is ready to go live with 5G network services across ‘all strategic and heavily populated areas’ although 5G devices will not be available until sometime in 2019, whilst the operator also awaits additional spectrum allocations and 5G launch permission from the regulatory authorities, the Kuwait Times reports. In the meantime, Zain Kuwait says it will continue developing and expanding the 5G network gradually across the country. The operator adds that, ‘once commercially launched, the 5G network will empower government entities and enterprise (B2B) digital transformation, smart city development and the fourth industrial revolution’. Zain signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese technology vendors ZTE and Huawei in October 2018 with the aim of developing 5G business cases.
