T-Mobile CR, Slovak Telekom select MediaKind IPTV platform

US-based media technology developer MediaKind has announced that it has been selected by Deutsche Telekom group units T-Mobile Czech Republic and Slovak Telekom to provide market-leading IPTV services to consumers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The press release notes that MediaKind, the new brand identity for Ericsson Media Solutions, will upgrade and further extend its Mediaroom platform, which currently enables the existing Magio IPTV service in Slovakia, to provide a pathway for future cloud migration and the introduction of virtualised architectures in both countries. As well as enabling the modernisation of the Magio IPTV service in Slovakia, the agreement will see the launch of a new IPTV service in the Czech Republic. The US vendor claims that the Mediaroom platform will deliver a ‘converged, agile, and highly scalable TV solution’ that will allow the two operators to deliver ‘a range of highly personalised services to subscribers, including linear and on-demand video, extensive metadata, archive TV, advanced privacy and parental control’. Finally, MediaKind noted that its Media Platforms portfolio also includes MediaFirst – a next generation, cloud-based pay-TV platform that is used for delivering constantly optimised, device agnostic and highly personalised media experiences.
