The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has allowed operators to use the 26GHz spectrum range for the first round of 5G technology testing between 22 November and 15 December. The Bangkok Post writes that Thailand’s telcos must report their results to the NBTC following the trials, including the related effects of 26GHz usage on other communications systems, NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tantasith was cited as saying. AIS is planning to carry out trials with Nokia, while True Corp is pairing with Huawei Technologies. The NBTC acknowledged that Total Access Communication (DTAC) is also preparing to submit a request for its own 5G trial.
