Chinese-owned cellco Zong has deployed its 10,000th 4G site, claiming to be the first company in Pakistan to reach that milestone. In a statement the operator noted that its network now spans more than 300 cities, and the cellco is looking to add a further 5,000 4G sites over the next three years to cater to the rising demand for data services. A spokesperson for the telco was quoted as saying that the operator has upgraded all of its sites with 4G technology. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Zong claimed a total of 8.52 million LTE subscribers at end-September 2018, representing just under half (47.5%) of Pakistan’s 4G market at that date.
