Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has released a roadmap for the sale of spectrum in the 800MHz frequency band and is inviting applications for its use by operators in the mobile services sector. In 2015 the NCA issued MTN Ghana with one block of spectrum in the 800MHz band and this time the regulator will make available three blocks of 2×5MHz, with applicants able to bid for up to two lots of 2×5MHz. The spectrum will not be offered through an auction but through a competitive tendering process. The NCA notes that the deadline for the receipt of applications is 5pm on 8 October 2018, with the regulator expecting the process to be fully-concluded by 23 December 2018.
