Ultravision launches Ultranet LTE-A service

6 Sep 2018

Former Mexican pay-TV/WiMAX operator Ultravision has launched LTE-A networks in Puebla and Atlixco (both in Puebla State) under the ‘Ultranet’ brand, following a rollout by Nokia. The fixed-wireless access (FWA) network delivers maximum download speeds of up to 20Mbps, with a premium package priced at MXN649 (USD33.4) per month. The network is understood to use the ISP’s legacy 2.5GHz Multichannel Multipoint Distribution Service (MMDS) spectrum.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, in March 2017 Ultravision awarded Nokia a contract to deploy an LTE-A network encompassing 700 sites across Puebla, Tlaxcala, Aguascalientes, Veracruz, Morelos, Guerrero and Jalisco.
