T-Mobile US has confirmed that its 600MHz Extended Range LTE network is now live in 992 cities and towns across 33 states. The cellco notes that it already has ‘a dozen [600MHz] capable smartphones across all price points’ available for end-users. CTO Neville Ray commented: ‘In many of these locations, we’re deploying 5G-ready equipment, so we can launch mobile 5G on 600MHz when smartphones arrive next year.’
TeleGeography notes that T-Mobile US agreed to pay USD7.99 billion for a total of 1,525 regional licences in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensing process, securing an average of 31MHz of 600MHz spectrum nationwide (50MHz in Puerto Rico). The network went live in August 2017, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
