Open-access wholesale broadband provider SIRO is partnering with Viatel, which claims to be ‘the largest Irish-owned provider of advanced voice, data connectivity, data centre and managed software-defined wide-area network solutions in Ireland’, to deliver high speed fibre connectivity and services to local businesses. Under the agreement between the pair, Viatel customers will be able to connect to SIRO’s fibre network, which now covers more than 160,000 premises and 30 towns across the Republic. Viatel has suggested its partnership with SIRO will allow it to offer unrivalled Gigabit connections to enterprise and public sector customers across Ireland, and it expects to connect 2,000 customers to dedicated Gigabit services over the next year on the back of the deal.
Commenting on the matter, Damien McCann, Director of Sales and Marketing for Viatel, said: ‘This partnership with SIRO significantly enhances our network reach and service offering for our clients, this infrastructure will allow our clients to enjoy ultra-fast Gigabit connectivity to connect to mission critical public and private cloud applications.
