Isle of Man fixed line incumbent Manx Telecom has published a trading update ahead of the release of its interim results for the first six months of 2018 – which are scheduled to be published on 12 September 2018. In the filing, the telco has confirmed that its high speed broadband services are now available to 93% of premises on the island, while it claimed that penetration of its ‘premium service’ had reached 56% of its customer base. Further, it also revealed that the rollout of fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) was progressing, with more than 2,500 homes and businesses now passed by the technology; the telco expects this figure to increase to 4,600 by end-2018.
Away from broadband-related developments, Manx Telecom said its mobile business had performed ‘as expected’, and while its ‘Global Solutions’ business registered further growth, data centre revenue remained broadly flat. Meanwhile, the company’s transformation programme was reported to remain on track, with ‘the associated benefits starting to accrue and further investment made into [the telco’s] systems and processes’.
