Ukrtelecom renationalisation case to restart in Supreme Court

11 Jul 2018

A legal case via which Ukraine’s State Property Fund (SPF) seeks to return fixed line operator Ukrtelecom to state ownership will be restarted in the country’s Supreme Court, Liga.net reports. In October 2017 the Kiev Economic Court invalidated Ukrtelecom’s original March 2011 privatisation agreement and called for the return of the telco into state hands with no compensation to current owner SCM, which lost its Court of Appeal case against the ruling in December 2017. However, the Supreme Court has now referred the case for reconsideration, which according to Liga.net’s sources indicates some form of procedural violation may have taken place in earlier court instances, although full details are not in the public domain.
