Viva achieves 1.5Gbps speeds in 5G test

11 Jun 2018

Viva Bahrain has conducted the Kingdom’s first live and public 5G network demonstration, writes Tahawul Tech. During the test process, Viva achieved connection speeds of up to 1.5Gbps using a commercial broadband router, claiming that the test reinforces its position at the front of the queue for next generation mobile technology in Bahrain.

Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed commented: ‘We have put in place a solid infrastructure for the growth of the sector and are benchmarking ourselves against some of the global leaders in telecoms in order to achieve even more. We are in the middle of implementing our Fourth National Telecommunications Plan and I am happy to see Viva taking the initiative by capitalising on this infrastructure and expanding its services to provide users with the latest technologies.’
