SLT in partnership to drive fibre uptake in Havelock City development

7 Jun 2018

The Mirror Business newspaper writes that national fixed, broadband and mobile operator Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT, including Sky Network) has entered into a partnership agreement with Mireka Homes (Private) to be the so-called ‘Exclusive Telecommunication Service Provider’ for Phases 3 and 4 of Havelock City, described as ‘the largest integrated mixed-use development project undertaken in Sri Lanka’. Under the landmark agreement, SLT will help drive the city-wide project, which is aimed at providing residents a true ‘City within a City’ concept. In Phases 1 and 2, some 445 apartments in four towers were hooked up with fibre services provided by SLT, and under the latest phases, four more towers and over 900 apartments are targeted for an upgrade. Specifically, SLT says the towers are set to receive ultra-high speed broadband through the company’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity, enabling download speeds of up to 100Mbps.
