KPN follows T-Mobile in cancelling its OTT TV service

1 Jun 2018

KPN of the Netherlands has announced it will stop providing its OTT TV service ‘KPN Play’ on 2 July 2018, due to insufficient customer demand, reports Dutch-based Telecompaper. KPN was the first Dutch telco to offer OTT TV when it launched the Play service in 2015, and rival T-Mobile followed suit in 2016 with its ‘Knippr’ service. T-Mobile announced however in March this year that Knippr would shut down on 1 June 2018. Telecompaper estimates that neither service had more than 10,000 subscribers.
