Inwi’s lawsuit against Maroc Telecom postponed to 2 July

22 May 2018

A lawsuit brought by Moroccan telecoms company Inwi against the country’s market leader Maroc Telecom (IAM), which was due to start on 21 May 2018, has been postponed to 2 July, Reuters reports citing Inwi’s lawyer Abdellatif Ouahbi. The official said: ‘The case was postponed to enable the lawyers to prepare their defence.’

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Inwi filed a lawsuit against Maroc Telecom for non-compliance with regulatory provisions related to fair competition, demanding more than MAD5.7 billion (USD620 million) in damages. Inwi alleged that Maroc Telecom broke competition law by holding more than 40% of the market.
