Airtel Niger pays XOF12bn for LTE licence

Further to the news that Airtel Niger has secured the country’s first 4G LTE mobile licence, Agence Ecofin cites the CEO of Bharti Airtel’s Niger unit, Pierre Canton Bakara, as confirming that the company paid a total of XOF12 billion (USD21.8 million) for this licence. Bakara added that the Airtel Niger network now covers 18,000 villages in 264 communes out of the total 266 across the country.
