Tigo Colombia has launched LTE-A connectivity in parts of Bogota, enabling customers with compatible handsets to access download speeds of up to 164Mbps. At launch, LTE-A access is restricted to subscribers in the vicinity of the Parque de la 93 and the Centro Mayor shopping centre, although the network will be launched in seven other parts of Bogota in the coming days, namely: Corferias, Gran Estacion, Andino Shopping Centre, the Financial Zone, Javeriana University, the International Centre and the downtown area (Gold Museum). Company president Marcelo Cataldo has indicated that the network will be extended to other major cities in due course.
