Sweden-based telecoms company Tele2 has reported net sales growth of 5% in the three months ended 31 March 2018. Tele2’s net sales for Q1 2018 amounted to SEK6.221 billion (USD733 million), up from SEK5.945 billion in the corresponding year-ago period, with the positive figures partly down to successful operations in Kazakhstan, Croatia and the Baltics. The company also reported strong year-on-year EBITDA growth of 7% in Q1 2018, totalling SEK1.628 billion compared with SEK1.523 in Q1 2017. Net profit for the company was up 19% to SEK590 million, up from SEK495 million in the first three months of 2017.
In operational terms Tele2 had 15.319 million total subscribers registered by end-March 2018, up 2.3% from the Q1 2017 total of 14.969 million. The company reported mobile subscriber growth in Lithuania, Kazakhstan and Croatia, while Sweden – the country with its second largest subscriber base – posted a total of 3.820 million mobile customers in Q1 2018, down from 3.851 million one year earlier.
