Vodafone Ukraine shutting CDMA network in June ahead of LTE-1800 launch

11 Apr 2018

Vodafone Ukraine (formerly MTS Ukraine) has informed subscribers that it will shut down its CDMA mobile data network services on 29 June 2018 ‘due to the transition to more advanced 3G (UMTS) and 4G (LTE) technologies’. Having operated the 450MHz CDMA modem-based service since 2007 and expanded coverage to 360 settlements across Ukraine, the Russian-owned cellco has opted to discontinue the network just ahead of the anticipated launch of 1800MHz LTE services in early July, which will augment and upgrade performance on its LTE-2600 network launched at the end of March.
