Italian wireless broadband operator GO internet has signed a spectrum sharing deal with rival operator Linkem. The two firms will share frequencies in the 3.5GHz band, which GO says will enable it to transform its legacy WiMAX networks in the Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions into a 5G-ready TD-LTE system. In addition, Linkem has agreed to invest EUR4 million (USD4.9 million) to take a stake in Go internet of approximately 20%. Both Linkem and GO hold regional spectrum licences in the 3.5GHz band for wireless broadband services.
