Osiptel cuts price of fixed-to-mobile calls

13 Mar 2018

Peruvian telecoms watchdog the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Organismo Supervisor de Inversion Privada en Telecommuniciones, Osiptel) has lowered the price ceiling for calls from Movistar fixed lines to any mobile line from PEN0.12 (USD0.037) per minute to PEN0.06 (including the General Sales Tax). The reduction is the sixth adjustment implemented by the regulator since the mechanism was introduced in 2011, at which date the tariff was PEN0.30 per minute. Osiptel estimates that the price reduction will generate savings of approximately PEN15.7 million per year for customers.
