Orange Morocco launches LTE-A services

26 Feb 2018

Orange Morocco (previously Meditel) has launched LTE-A services, marketed as 4G+, in partnership with equipment vendor Huawei. Domestic news source Maghreb Post writes that the network utilises carrier aggregation (CA) and MIMO technologies, with maximum downlink of 450Mbps on offer.

TeleGeography notes that Orange Morocco became the first cellco to market 4G services in the country, when it introduced the technology in Casablanca in June 2015. Orange’s LTE network was subsequently extended to cover Rabat and Sale later that same month, with 4G population coverage reaching 35% by end-2015. Following further expansion, the MNO claimed that its LTE network covered 100% of the population in 31 cities.
