PTCL books revenue of USD1bn in 2017

15 Feb 2018

Fixed line incumbent Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has reported consolidated revenue of PKR117 billion (USD1.1 billion) for the full year ended 31 December 2017. Total turnover dipped by 2% year-on-year as continuing declines from fixed telephony and fixed-wireless broadband services offset revenue growth from the operator’s other segments, including: fixed broadband services (4%); corporate and international services (11%); and LTE offerings (+26%). Despite the slight dip in revenue, PTCL reported that profit for the group was up 168% year-on-year, due to ‘favourable outcome of certain legal cases’ and improved turnover from its mobile arm Ufone, whilst the previous year was negatively impacted by the voluntary separation scheme offered to staff.
