ARPTC calls for ISPs to make themselves known

9 Feb 2018

Emery Okundji, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC’s) Minister of Post, Telecommunications and New Information and Communication Technologies has instructed the nation’s ISPs and VSAT operators to contact the Regulatory Authority of Post and Telecommunications (Autorite de Regulation des Postes et Telecom, ARPTC). Agence Ecofin writes that the country’s authorities are attempting to compile up-to-date information on data networks and service providers operating within the national territory. As such, ISPs and VSAT operators are required to present their licences to the ARPTC for registration. Providers that fail to do so will be considered a ‘clandestine operator, and will be subject to the rigour of the law,’ the official added.
