VNPT-Vinaphone switches on 4G in Gia Lai province

19 Dec 2017

Vietnamese mobile operator VNPT-Vinaphone has expanded its 4G LTE network to the province of Gia Lai. The company has installed a total of 117 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the province and plans to put a further 180 into operation next year.

VNPT-Vinaphone switched on the country’s first commercial LTE service on the island of Phu Quoc in Kien Giang province in November last year, having been awarded an 1800MHz 4G spectrum licence by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) one month earlier. The network was subsequently expanded to other provinces, including Binh Duong (March 2017), Ca Mau (April 2017) and Ba Ria-Vung Tau (May 2017), with around 15,000 4G BTS installed across the country this year.
