BE secures additional spectrum in the Philippines

11 Dec 2017

Broadband Everywhere (BE), the Philippine subsidiary of Norway-based Ice Group (formerly AINMT), says it has secured a 20MHz block of nationwide spectrum in the 3.5GHz band and an additional block of 5MHz in the 450MHz band. The wireless broadband provider issued a press statement confirming the award from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), which it says now gives it exclusive rights to use 15MHz in the 450MHz frequency band in the Philippines. BE’s existing 4G network can support both frequency bands, and the award of additional spectrum will add significant increased capacity. ‘We are very pleased to have been granted additional spectrum, which will allow us to further improve our service and our ability to address the underserved areas of the Philippines as we continue with our network rollout,’ said JD Fouchard, CEO of Ice Group.
