Charter launches first DOCSIS 3.1 network in Oahu

4 Dec 2017

US cable giant Charter Communications, which trades as Spectrum, has announced that it has launched its first residential DOCSIS 3.1 network in Oahu, Hawaii. The new infrastructure enables end-users to access 1Gbps download speeds, for a monthly fee of USD104.99. Going forward, Charter says that the DOCSIS 3.1 network will be extended to new markets in the coming months.

TeleGeography notes that Charter’s Hawaiian business has its roots in the former Oceanic TWC unit operated by Time Warner Cable prior to its USD78.7 billion takeover by Charter, which closed in May 2016.
