21 Nov 2017

Romanian telco RCS&RDS (Digi) has announced that it has achieved download speeds over its mobile network of 1.5Gbps during a trial held with equipment vendor Huawei. The test took place in a laboratory using a special terminal and involved aggregating five frequencies, along with 256 QAM radio modulation and 4×4 MIMO. Experimental 100MHz radio spectrum was used to achieve a record transfer speed of 1.52Gbps, and using only 80MHz of the Digi Mobil spectrum, 1.2Gbps was achieved. The test device was based on a Huawei HiSilicon Hi1381 chipset.
