8 Nov 2017

Telecom Personal has announced that its 4G LTE network is now live in 1,011 towns and cities, equivalent to coverage of 79% of the Argentine population. Further, the cellco notes that LTE-A carrier aggregation (CA) technology is available across 80% of its standard 4G footprint (i.e. approximately 63% population coverage). Cities served by LTE-A include: Cordoba, Santiago del Estero, Tucuman, La Rioja, Catamarca, Chaco, Formosa, Misiones, Entre Rios, Salta, Jujuy and the Area Metropolitana Buenos Aires (AMBA). The LTE-A network supports downlink transmission speeds of up to 105Mbps, compared to the 17Mbps download speeds delivered by its LTE network.

In operational terms, Personal claims that 8.7 million subscribers are currently using its 4G networks. 63% of all data traffic is now carried over Personal’s 4G networks, of which around 5% is delivered via the cellco’s LTE-A infrastructure.
