Movistar launches ‘4G+’ carrier aggregation in La Plata, Mar del Plata

3 Nov 2017

Movistar Argentina has introduced ‘4G+’-branded carrier aggregation (CA) technology in La Plata and Mar del Plata, two cities in Buenos Aires Province. The new LTE-A network augments Movistar’s existing 2100MHz/1700MHz infrastructure (launched in December 2014) with 700MHz spectrum, effectively doubling download speeds for end-users.

La Plata is the capital of Buenos Aires Province, while Mar del Plata is a resort city on Argentina’s Atlantic coast. The new network will be extended on a nationwide basis ‘as soon as possible’, the cellco notes.
