T-Mobile US claims ‘industry first’ with 1.175Gbps LTE trial

11 Sep 2017

T-Mobile US has claimed a ‘worldwide industry first’ after achieving downlink transmission speeds of 1.175Gbps using commercially available LTE technology. The tests, which took place at T-Mobile’s lab, utilised Nokia’s so-called ‘4.9G’ network technology powered by the Nokia AirScale Base Station, together with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X20 LTE modem. In addition, the trial used 4X4 MIMO, 256 QAM functionality and tri-band carrier aggregation (3C) across 60MHz of downlink spectrum.
