DOCOMO PACIFIC has confirmed that it is now offering mobile, broadband, fixed line and pay-TV services on a commercial basis. The services are available on a standalone basis, or as part of ‘ONE’-branded multi-play bundles. The announcement tops off a frenzied period of activity for the Japanese-backed operator, following the recent launch of the 279km ATISA submarine cable, which links the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) to neighbouring Guam. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, the telco’s new LTE network was launched last month, and is now available on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, DOCOMO Pacific previously offered broadband connectivity following its takeover of Marianas Cablevision (MCV) in May 2013. However, the cable broadband service was seemingly discontinued following Typhoon Soudelor in July 2015, which disrupted the country’s entire communications network.
