Bitel earmarks USD45m for network expansion

Peru’s fourth largest cellco by subscribers Bitel (Viettel Peru) has announced that it is setting aside USD45 million this year for the expansion of its network across the country, writes El Comercio. The Viettel Group-owned company is in the process of developing its 4G LTE mobile network and is specifically targeting young people, families, taxi drivers and corporate users in its expansion strategy.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at March 2017 Bitel had 4.1 million wireless subscribers and had added 50,000 4G customers by the same date, after it launched its LTE service in December 2016.
