Minsvyazi publishes brief 1H17 telecoms development update

The Ministry of Communications and Informatisation (Minsvyazi) of Belarus has published a market development update for the six months ended 30 June 2017, noting that at that date the number of subscribers to fixed broadband internet services reached 3.1 million, or more than 32% of the population. In addition, the number of IPTV subscriptions had increased by a net 85,000 to 1.6 million, and the total number of wireless broadband accesses stood at 6.4 million (up 400,500). Further, the ministry notes that a total of more than 11.3 million SIMs were registered at 30 June, of which up to 60% has access to LTE which is now being provided in 29 large regional centres and in Minsk. The average consumption of LTE traffic was 5.8GB per subscriber in 1H17.
