MTN Ghana to increase number of 4G sites and expand fibre network

Dominant Ghanaian cellco MTN Ghana has announced that it will increase the number of 4G LTE base transceiver stations (BTS), as well as expand its fibre-optic broadband network across the country, writes the Ghana News Agency. Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Cynthia Lumor said that 197 4G cell sites will be added to the company’s existing 475 by the end of the year. Lumor also stated that the company is working on a fibre extension programme along the Eastern Corridor, adding that MTN Ghana is considering using solar power as back-up for its near 3,000 existing sites.
