MTN Ghana is aiming to extend mobile service coverage to roughly 40 underserved communities as part of a Rural Telephony Project, in partnership with Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and Ericsson. Under the deal, MTN Ghana will act as the service provider, whilst GIFEC will be in charge of acquiring all land permits for sites and Ericsson will supply the required infrastructure and maintenance support. The nationwide project will cost approximately USD12 million and will benefit a number of communities, including: Hani, Adamu, Famowan and Sabiye (Brong-Ahafo Region); Leklebi Duga (Volta Region); Nadunodo, Dabogni and Kpabia (Northern Region); Gold Coast Camp, Nsuntem Anyinase, Wawase and Oseneagya (Central Region); and Kundungu, Yigantu, Nabulo, Sakai, Kulipong and Baayiri (Upper West Region).
