Sector watchdog the Superintendency of Telecommunications (Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones, Sutel) has cleared Claro Costa Rica and Movistar Costa Rica to bid for spectrum in the 1800MHz and 1900MHz/2100MHz bands, confirming that the duo met the minimum requirements to participate in the auction. Sutel is offering up four 2×5MHz blocks in the 1800MHz range – at 1730MHz-1750MHz/1825MHz-1845MHz – plus three 2×5MHz blocks at 1940MHz-1955MHz/2130MHz-2145MHz. The regulator has a deadline of 50 days, starting from the submission of technical offers (i.e. from 11 May 2017) to complete the tender.
