SIRO inks network partnership deal with enet

8 May 2017

SIRO, the open-access fibre network joint venture between ESB and Vodafone, has announced the signing of a network agreement with enet. Under the partnership enet’s customer base of broadband retail service providers will gain access to SIRO’s fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) network, which currently passes over 70,000 premises in Ireland. Underpinning the deal, enet has invested in the development of an automated software platform that aggregates its own network and third-party infrastructure. SIRO is currently live in eleven towns – Dundalk, Carrigaline, Sligo, Letterkenny, Tralee, Cavan, Wexford, Skibbereen, Drogheda, Mullingar and Ennis – with construction ongoing in a further five – Castlebar, Westport, Portlaoise, Newbridge and Carlow.

Commenting on the deal, enet’s CEO Conal Henry said: ‘enet is pleased to announce this deal which complements our deep fibre network and enhances our reach to end customer premises. With SIRO providing the last mile fibre access, enet will integrate this fibre broadband service with the Metropolitan Area Networks as well as our own national fibre network to offer a full end-to-end offering to all retail service providers.’
