Vodafone Portugal has announced that it has achieved 1Gbps download speeds over its existing LTE infrastructure, in conjunction with vendor duo Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies. The demonstration utilised Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X16 LTE mobile test device, without a cable connection, the companies noted. According to Vodafone, the network utilised 256QAM modulation, 4×4 multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) technology and tri-band carrier aggregation (3C) to achieve the superior downlink speeds.
