Digicel BVI launches LTE

18 Jan 2017

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) mobile operator Digicel has announced the launch of 4G LTE technology, with initial coverage in parts of Tortola and Virgin Gorda. The network uses 700MHz spectrum which was awarded to Digicel and its rivals Flow and CCT Wireless last August. As well as selling a range of 4G-capable mobile handsets, Digicel is also offering LTE connectivity as a fixed broadband alternative for home users, priced from USD79 a month. Market leader Flow launched its own LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) networks in November.
