14 Dec 2016

Peter Larose, Seychelles’ Minister for Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, has given his presentation of the 2017 budget allocation to the National Assembly, in which he proposed new measures to reduce costs in telecommunications, energy and water services. Seychelles News Agency reports that some of the government’s objectives for next year include facilitating faster local and international telecoms connections, and improving the cost of business. Mr Larose announced: ‘The government is in discussion with telecommunications companies for them to reduce cost on services such as telephone – both fixed and mobile – internet, television, data and Wi-Fi services,’ adding that among the topics being discussed is a proposed second undersea international fibre-optic cable system for the island nation.
